Yes, I just had to try to draw some of that glitchy square stuff. I had the idea of the glitchy square stuff for a while before it I saw that movie, but the movie made me want to draw it even more. XD
You have layers in Gimp as well was Sai, so the layers would help. The layers also have modes or options. I end up using overlay,multiply, and luminosity in this picture.
Multiply makes things darker, Overlay shades the layer the same hue as the one under it, and luminosity makes the layer really bright. Addition in GImp is like luminosity in Sai.
Just play around with the different options and brushes and find ones that work well for shadows or lights or whatever you end up drawing.
Using the most expensive or popular programs doesn't mean you can't use lesser known/used ones to makes the same things. Gimp is a really good program, it actually can do more than Sai can. But I like Sai's layout better XD
